Symphonies by Haydn and Brahms, plus the UK premiere of Ligeti's Little Serenade, and the world premiere of Ryan Wigglesworth's Vignettes de Jules Renard.

The Knussen Chamber Orchestra are joined by Roderick Williams for Wigglesworth’s Vignettes de Jules Renard. Chickens, toads and grasshoppers all make an appearance in this playful song cycle.

Haydn's Symphony No.83 in G minor is known as ‘The Hen’, for the clucking motif in the first movement, which reminded listeners of the back-and-forth head motion of a walking chicken.

Ligeti's Little Serenade finally receives its UK premiere, and the programme concludes with Brahms' beautiful Symphony No.3. Not to be missed.
