More Green than Purple

August 26 - September 1

Monday – Saturday, 10am – 5pm / Sunday, 10am – 4pm

The Pond Gallery, Snape Maltings

‘More Green than Purple’ is an eclectic exhibition by three disparate local artists, all with their own take on art. One soft sculpturist, and two painters: one mixed media and the other abstract.

“I have always been interested in all types of art and craft and love to express my creativity by exploring all mediums. Lockdown gave me the opportunity to explore a very different type of art/craft. I decided to delve into the world of folk art and whimsy, exploring my love of antique toys, vintage dolls and old teddies. Using vintage fabrics, silk and linen, along with hand sculptured faces, my creatures came to life. Appreciating the rich patina by years of handling and playing with old toys, I strive to give my creatures this aged appearance. I feel this adds a sense of timeless charm unique to each individual creature. All my work is designed and handcrafted by me.”

“I am an abstract painter working for many years in my Suffolk studio. I make colourful intuitive paintings, largely in acrylic on both canvas and paper. The acrylic allows me a lot of spontaneity and freedom of mark, enabling me to make happy and joyful work. I make work of all sizes but especially enjoy painting large canvasses.”

“My new works have evolved from ideas formed when out walking my dog in the South Norfolk countryside. Literal or abstracted, painted or printed compositions many including mixed media techniques.”
