Thursday 3 November to Wednesday 9 November
The Quay Gallery, Snape Maltings.
Large immersive mixed media Suffolk Landscape exhibition by Ben Wardle.
I live in Snape and have been painting and exhibiting local landscapes for many years. I have worked on the same farm on the Suffolk Sandlings for 20 years and I paint the unique landscapes that surround me there every day. I try to capture how I remember those spaces and how I feel when I am in them. I’m inspired by the work of environmental philosopher Glenn Albrecht and how our remaining wild spaces, climate change and our mental health are all intertwined. His concept of Solastalgia and Ecoanxiety is fascinating and tries to explain how our wild spaces are being affected by climate change and how many of us find that distressing.
