Annabel Ridley and Simon Frere- Smith exhibiting work at the Pond Gallery in August 2022 responding to the changing Suffolk Coast. Annabel makes expressive work using processes of paint with screen print, building layers of colour and surface that interact on the same plane. Her work can be found in both private and public collections with several pieces in Aldeburgh, Royal Holloway College , London University , Broomfield and Colchester Hospital and others. She was a student at St. Martins and Camberwell School of Art London and has as a studio in Suffolk where she lives and works.
Simon Frere-Smith makes paintings on a large scale that respond to the Suffolk Coast. His work developed with a unique process of using plaster with acrylic paint . Simon has worked from his Suffolk studio on the coast for over two decades, producing and showing work from early days at Covehithe , Eastern Bavents , Walberswick , the Benacre Estate, and Blythburgh. Simon studied at St. Martins School of Art with tutours Gillian Ayres and Henry Mundy. His work can be found in private collections here in the UK. He was a founder member of Suffolk Open Studios and has exhibited in London, Exeter and throughout the Eastern Region.
