Who is it for?
The Art Station / Britten Pears Arts Residency 2022 aims to provide an artist/creative with the space, time and equipment to experiment and explore new avenues of their creative practice. In order to benefit most from the residency, we are particularly looking for an artist/creative working with sound and/or moving image – or with the intention to develop their practice in these areas.
We are particularly keen to receive applications from those who identify as from marginalised backgrounds based on any protected characteristic including age, racialisation, gender identity or sexuality, disability or long term health condition, pregnancy, maternity or marital status, religion or belief, and class background or class identity.
What does it offer?
The residency offers space to develop your own practice over four weeks with mentoring and support from both Britten Pears Arts and The Art Station. You will be working in The Art Station’s large project space with good natural light, power, heating, and plenty of floor space.
Britten Pears Arts will provide accommodation for the artist during the residency period, along with a space to use for 2 days each week at Britten Pears (located in Snape, a 10 minute drive from The Art Station in Saxmundham). Use of technical equipment will also be provided where possible.
The final week of the residency will include an opportunity to engage with an audience via any of the following: a work in progress exhibition, workshop sessions, a talk or other appropriate interaction which would be promoted and supported by The Art Station and Britten Pears Arts.
