Red Studio sits in the grounds of The Red House, the home of the composer Benjamin Britten and the tenor Peter Pears. The bungalow was commissioned in 1963 for Mary Potter, an artist and friend of Britten and Pears. In recent years, Red Studio has been used as accommodation for artists visiting/working with Britten Pears Arts. The attached studio has enabled artists to use the space as a ‘creative retreat’. Red Studio has recently been refurbished and the property makes a wonderful base from which to explore Aldeburgh with the sea being minutes away.

Red Studio is a two bedroom ground floor property. On entering the hall the creative studio space is to the left and contains a baby grand piano which visitors are more than welcome to use. Opening the door on the right you will find a corridor which leads immediately on the right to a separate loo, a shower room and loo and the main bedroom which has a double bed, bed side tables, wardrobe, chest of drawers, shelves and a wash basin. Further down the corridor is the twin room which can be made into a super-king on request.

The sitting room faces south and has large windows making it a lovely bright space. There are patio doors leading out to the garden area. There is a very comfortable sofa and chair with a TV in the corner. The dining area is near to the kitchen and a useful hatch can be found between the two! The kitchen is well equipped with electric cooker, larder style fridge, washing machine and a microwave.
