The careful refurbishment of Malt Cottage and retention of many fine period features gives this cottage a lovely homely feel. The property is situated within the heart of the Historic Listed Frontage of Snape Maltings just 5 miles from the beaches at Aldeburgh and a short drive to Southwold’s sandy beaches further up the coast.

On the doorstep there is an array of shops, a Food Hall selling local produce, an antique centre together with a fine-dining Pub, the Granary Teashop, the award-winning Cafe 1885 and, of course, the world-renowned Snape Maltings Concert Hall. These are all within a short walking distance and provide all that is needed for a relaxing break near the Suffolk coastline.

The location is perfect, right beside the River Alde with walks to Iken and Aldeburgh. It is a birdwatchers and nature lovers paradise.

Guests should be aware that the retained original staircase angle is a little steeper than would be found in a modern home.

Accommodation Description

You enter Malt Cottage directly into the welcoming kitchen where there is a wealth of storage. High ceilings and dual aspect give it a very airy feel. The oak worktops and flooring lend themselves to a contemporary look including a lovely feature table and four chairs – the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing breakfast, leisurely lunch or a stylish dinner.

Directly opposite the kitchen is the comfortable sitting room with Freeview TV, DVD player, Xbox 360 (with games) and super-fast fibre-optic broadband. The retro sofa along with a leather chair provide ample seating in a lovely setting with a unique full-height window which allows light to filter in during the afternoon and evening.

Upstairs there are two elegant bedrooms – one king-size double room and a single room with space for a cot. Both rooms have good storage with the Master bedroom having a vintage cast-iron hanging rail and chest of drawers. The good-sized bathroom offers a rain-shower over the full-size bath , washbasin and WC.

Staff are on-hand to meet and greet you and to ensure that your stay is enjoyable and comfortable. A memorable stay awaits…

Lovely cottage in a great location. We thoroughly enjoyed our mini break away. Thank you for an excellent stay and laying on the superb weather!

Beautiful cottage in stunning surroundings. Definitely recommend the walks from here. So many birds, water deer, dragon and damsel flies. It was good to have the 10% discount around the area.

A real joy to be here. Weather after the storm bright and breezy. Enjoyed some early Christmas shopping and a brilliant rendition of Cinderella by English Touring Opera. Lovely cottage be back soon. Robin and Annette
