My first course as a student at the Britten Pears Young Artists Programme was in 2006 - ‘New Music, New Media. It’s the only composition course I've done other than my degrees and it was probably one of the most important formative experiences I've had. I’ve now been involved, in myriad ways, with Britten Pears Arts for almost 20 years, and I currently lead the Composition, Alternative Performance, and Performance Art course for the Britten Pears Young Artists’ Programme.
Aldeburgh Music and Snape Maltings are special because they’re very British and traditional, yet international and forward looking too – much as Britten was – it’s amazing that they have kept this mix in place.
