China Moses
China Moses is a versatile artist with a lifelong commitment to the arts. She has excelled as a vocalist, songwriter and music producer, releasing seven albums as a leader. In 2008 she founded MadeInChina Productions, facilitating her recent albums through licensing deals with major labels. Her notable works include "This One’s for Dinah" (Blue Note Records 2009), "Crazy Blues" (Verve 2012), "Nightintales" (MPS Records 2017) and "& the Vibe Tribe EP" (2021). China's upcoming album, "it’s complicated...," co-produced with Troy Miller, is set to release in late 2024.
Born in Los Angeles, China Moses has embraced a life split between Paris, London and Brooklyn with a global impact. She has appeared on international television and in films such as “Moesha,” “Lolo,” “The Princess and the Frog” (VO in French), “Sammy by Sammy” (VO) and “The Lion King 2019 The Circle of Life” (VO in French), showcasing her international reach. Her theatrical roles include “Sally Bowles” in Cabaret and “Billie Holiday” in Cafe Society Swing.
China has performed in over 800 shows across six continents at prestigious venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, Jazz Café , Barbican Centre, Royal Albert Hall in London, Olympia, UNESCO International Jazz Day, La Cigale in Paris, Vienna Konzerthaus, Bogota Philharmonic, Berlin Opernhaus, Elbphilharmonie, Dresdner Philharmonie in Germany, and Birdland, Dizzy’s, Summerstage and Nublu in New York City.
In addition to her music career, China has produced documentaries and radio programs through her production company. Currently, she hosts and produces radio shows “Made in China” on TSF Jazz in France (since 2015) and “Late Night with China Moses” on Jazz FM in the UK (since 2018), making her one of the only women of colour to host multiple radio shows across European and UK airwaves.
China is actively involved in philanthropy, supporting organisations like UNESCO partner International Music Council, "Solidarité Sida" (AIDS Solidarity) and "Tout le Monde Chante Contre le Cancer" (Everyone Sings Against Cancer), and advocating for arts in education. She is a member of the 2013 Young Leader graduating class of the French American Foundation and was knighted in the French National Order of Merit in 2023. She has mentored at the Montreux Jazz Academy, Katowice Music Academy, iMusic School, HfMT Hamburg and MIDEM, plus served on the committee of the Villa Albertine. She is also the co–founder and artistic director of the Tahiti Soul Jazz Festival and founder and artistic director of the Paris Soul Fest dedicated to the homegrown French soul scene.
