Alison Wilding is one of Britain’s foremost sculptors. Her innovative and nimble approach to materials and procedures explores inherent contrasts – concealment and exposure, stability and precariousness. Ramping Up brings together a significant group of Wilding’s sculpture, celebrating the Britten Pears Arts acquisition of her work Migrant (2003), now re-installed in the reedbeds.

Wilding has taken advantage of the variety of spaces at Snape Maltings. New work will be shown in the Dovecote Studio and a re-imagined major work in the blacked-out Switch Room – All Cats are Grey… Revisited (2023). Terrestrial (2003) and other works are in Building Seven. The Stable Block displays Wilding’s prints and drawings, including her recent series of hand varnished digital prints which take vintage theatrical posters as a starting point to their abstraction and obliteration.
