Alice Purton is a cellist, vocalist, composer and improviser. She specialises in experimental contemporary chamber music but enjoys a wide range of performance work including classical repertoire, jazz, folk, film recording sessions and pop. She performs at concert halls across the UK, Europe and North America; records regularly at studios including Abbey Road and Air Lyndhurst; she has released recordings on labels including Kairos, Another Timbre, NMC and Carrier. Alice can be heard regularly on the radio and recently had the world premiere of her latest piece broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Her education work is hugely varied; from adults to beginners, she teaches regularly at Goldsmiths University and the DaCapo Music Foundation, and gives workshops at institutions including Harvard, Stanford, Oxford Universities, RNCM and the Guildhall. Alice also runs singing musicianship classes based on the Kodaly method, which she incorporates in her instrumental teaching.
