Aga Serugo-Lugo
Aga’s been working with BPA since 2014, and 2015 began his relationship with Group A, BPA’s inclusive youth vocal group. Group A have performed at Snape Maltings, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Aldeburgh Carnival and Lowestoft Beach. As well as learning existing songs they’ve composed original works including The Old Man And The Sea (2019) a 30 minute beach opera written for the First Light Festival.
In 2018 he was the guest artist for BPA’s Celebration writing the finale ‘Falling Star’ for around 1300 children.
Aga serugo-Lugo is a vocalist, clarinettist, composer and workshop leader. He sang for the 9 piece Funk band “Gefunkt”, and also extensively composed for the six-piece jazz-fusion group ‘Eclectiv’.
Aga’s interests lie in narrative-based community music-making, focusing on accessibility and inclusivity. This has given him the opportunity to work with, amongst others: Sing-up, The ROH, ENO Baylis, Music in Detention, Create, Turtle Key Arts, Streetwise Opera, Trinity Laban, Mencap, Pegasus Opera, Creative Partnerships, Wigmore Hall and Britten Pears Arts.
In addition, Aga co-runs Camberwell Community Choir and runs sessions for BPA’s Group A in Lowestoft and Ipswich.
Compositional projects include music for theatre: Street cries of London, Wiltons Music Hall (2009), Verona road, Intermission theatre (2010), The Conspirators project, The Yard (2012), Core Blimey: A Corby Musical (2014), Falling Star, Snape Maltings (2018) and The Old Man And The Sea (2019).
