Britten Pears Artist alumni are taking part in an upcoming performance celebrating the music of Gustav and Imogen Holst.

Gustav needs no introduction, although his operas are less well known. Conversely, Imogen, his daughter, is only now becoming established as a fine composer in her own right.

Susanna Stranders of The Royal Ballet and Opera has created the programme, working with Dame Felicity Palmer, who has not only recorded works by Gustav Holst but also worked alongside Imogen.

Five young opera singers, three alumni of the Britten Pears Young Artists Programme, led by Katy Thomson, will explore the Holsts’ music. They will be performing a double-bill of Gustav’s short operas, Sāvitri and The Wandering Scholar. This will be a matinee.

The singers will also support Dame Felicity in a Recital telling the story of Imogen as a composer.

The performances will be accompanied throughout by the Ellipsis Ensemble, together with Britten Pears Young Artist flautist Hannah Gillingham.

The production is supported by Cameratina Ltd with support from Britten Pears Young Artists Programme and The Ambache Trust.
