Participants | Ayanna Witter-Johnson
Ayanna Witter-Johnson is an English folk and soul singer, songwriter and cellist who was nominated for a 2012 MOBO Award.
She used her time on Open Space to write and produce songs for her second EP which chronicles her experience as a woman in the 21st century.
A performer of extraordinary versatility, Ayanna describes Open Space as “much more than a residency. It has been the gift of being able to spend time alone away from the busyness of London life and to focus solely on creating music. The music I have created and developed since spending time in Snape has formed the basis of my next recording to be released in Spring 2015. I have been able to express a part of me that has been hidden and my appreciation for all the support of the Open Space team goes beyond words. I will be recording this material in the Britten Studio at Snape Maltings and continuing to develop the live show to support it in future residencies there. Thank you Open Space :-)”
