Snape Maltings is the home of Britten Pears Arts and, as well as our 800-seat Concert Hall we have a range of rehearsal and performance spaces whilst at The Red House, the home of Benjamin Britten and his partner Peter Pears, we host smaller, more intimate recitals during the summer.

Although we are known around the world for the international standard of our Aldeburgh Festival in June, our high-quality, year-round programme includes orchestras, soloists, opera and choral works as well as programmes and residencies for young musicians and emerging artists. A recent addition to our programme has been the Snape Sessions - DJ sets (most recently Huey Morgan).

A wide range of musical genres features in our Summer at Snape Programme in August including jazz, folk, classical, big band, family events and world music.

We are now looking for an experienced Lighting Technician who can prepare and run all lighting aspects of our programmed events. To be considered for this role candidates must be experienced lighting and desk and programming operators (Apex and Gio) who have gained their technical knowledge in a performance venue.

Ideal candidates will also:

  • Have technical experience including preparation, rigging, and focusing of lighting fixtures.
  • Be comfortable and able to work at height, on ladders and Tallescope.
  • Have knowledge of health and safety issues relating to backstage work.
  • Have up to date knowledge of lighting equipment and live performance technology.
  • Have some knowledge and experience of video / projection playback.
  • Have a flexible approach to work and working hours.
  • Be able to work well as part of a team whilst having a good ability to self-motivate and use their own initiative.
  • Be able to work to deadlines.
  • Be a clear and articulate communicator. Snape Maltings is in a rural part of East Suffolk, and you will need to have your own transport to get to and from work each day.
