Snape Maltings Trading Limited is the trading arm of Britten Pears Arts, providing essential income that allows us to fulfil our charitable purpose. BPA is a pioneering music, arts and heritage charity based on the Suffolk coast at two popular, historic visitor destinations: Snape Maltings and The Red House.

Situated on heritage site within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Snape Maltings is a unique retail destination renowned for its carefully selected and curated product ranges which include homewares, furniture, art, ceramics and artisan crafts.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our talented buying team covering a period of maternity leave. You are likely to be a creative person, with a good eye for trends, quality and design. You may already have buying experience – ideally gained with similar merchandise – or you may be keen to use your brilliant admin skills and to develop a career in buying. Either way – you will love what we offer and will identify with our brand values.

The main purpose of this role is to support other buying colleagues, use reports to analyse sales trends and to reorder stock lines – for interiors, homewares, The Craft Shop and The Shed. There will be plenty of opportunities to learn from experienced buying colleagues and to take on more responsibility. For someone who already has buying experience the scope of this role will be widened.

We are looking for:

  • Accurate and efficient admin skills – gained in a customer facing (ideally retail) role.
  • Confident and competent IT skills (EPOS, Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Sharepoint)
  • The ability to interpret data.
  • A genuine understanding of our brand values and how they apply to buying.
  • Clear, friendly and confident communication skills.
  • Ideally some relevant experience gained in a working or volunteering context.
  • A great team player, someone who enjoys being part of a team and who is keen to learn.

We are an equal opportunities employer and believe that diversity strengthens and enriches us. We positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates of all ages and from all backgrounds, and in particular from minority groups and disabled candidates who are currently under-represented at Britten Pears Arts.
