A Song for Haddo, with songs from Friday Afternoons by Benjamin Britten Part of the Haddo Arts Festival 2017 with Music Co-OPERAtive Scotland (McOpera Outreach) and Snape Maltings. A Song for Haddo marks the beginning of an exciting new strand of music outreach in Aberdeenshire as part of the Haddo Arts Festival. In September 2017, composer and vocal animateur Moira Morrison worked with over 120 primary school pupils and their teachers using Kodaly-inspired vocal techniques to prepare for the performance on October 12th at Haddo House Hall in Ellon, Aberdeenshire. The project featured the commissioning of a new song for voices and piano entitled 'A Song for Haddo', composed by Moira Morrison with input and ideas from children drawn from six local primary schools - Barthol Chapel, Tarves, Daviot, New Deer, Pitfour and Pitmedden. As part of the project, a group of professional orchestral musicians from Music Co-OPERAtive Scotland also worked with high school string players from Inverurie, Meldrum and Ellon Academies to form a string ensemble to accompany the young voices in a new orchestration of six of Britten's songs by Peter Kemp. http://www.haddoarts.com www.mcopera.com
