19 - 24 August 2024

“My week with Britten Pears Arts was absolutely transformative. I learned so much from the coaches and other musicians and feel that I have emerged from the week a better, more versatile, and more confident musician. Snape Maltings is truly a magical place with something special in the air, and I feel that all musicians would benefit from a residency there!”

Britten Pears Young Artist 2023-24

Is this course for me?

This course is designed to help early-career singers and collaborative pianists who would benefit from a deep dive into the world of French Song and Mélodie, collaborate with other like-minded emerging artists and challenge their own perceptions of the song repertoire.

Who will work with me?

The course will be led by the finest interpreters of French repertoire, Véronique Gens and Susan Manoff, alongside repertoire pianist and coach Audrey Hyland.

What can I expect on this course?

This course will comprise several public masterclasses alongside private tuition from some of the world’s finest performers, vocal teachers and tutors. This will include group sessions from industry professionals, career advice and a recital at the end of the week. You should expect to be challenged, inspired and reinvigorated as a performer.

Alongside an intensive focus on French Song and Mélodie with Véronique Gens and Susan Manoff, Audrey Hyland will offer in-depth exploration of coaching and repetiteur skills.

You will need to be at Snape Maltings for the full duration of the course 19 – 24 August 2024.

As with all BPYAP courses, there is no fee to attend, we will cover travel costs, accommodation and most meals. Additionally, we have a small budget to provide financial support, including for those who need support with removing barriers to access or childcare costs.
