A solo exhibition, inspired by Britten's War Requiem, of painting and music.

Britten's War Requiem was premiered in 1962 to commemorate the re-dedication of Coventry Cathedral, which was bombed in World War II. Hambling's installation of paintings depict war victims and battlefields.

“As a student I heard a recording of Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem ... The piece’s dynamic combination of strangeness, horror, lament, fear, strife, tenderness, chilling authority and grandeur was unlike anything I had previously experienced.” — Maggi Hambling.

Hambling’s painting and sound installation is exhibited annually to coincide with Remembrance Sunday.
