A one-of-a-kind weekend filled with traditional West African drum and dance workshops, presented in partnership with Wooden Roots.

Building on the incredible 2023 Wooden Roots Experience, this year we once again invite you to enjoy immersive specialist workshops led by world-renowned authentic teachers from the West African diaspora. The weekend provides the opportunity to learn the core fundamentals of how drum and dance connect. It will be an unforgettable experience whether you are new to this genre of music, improving on your playing standard, or an advanced player of many years.

Artists Babara B Fakoly, Monette Marino & new artist for 2024 Harouna Dembele will be teaching djembe workshops from beginner to advanced and they are joined by fellow artists Sidiki Dembélé & Aida Diop. Sidiki and Aida will lead symposium-style West African dance & drum workshops throughout the weekend taking you to the roots & core fundamentals of how the drum & dance connect.
