The Red House, Aldeburgh
Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears' home in Aldeburgh offers a charming snapshot into the couple's life. Lovingly preserved, the house and gardens are open for all to explore.
The Red House is currently open for general admission on Thursdays – Sundays. Admission includes entry to the house, library, composition studio, exhibitions & garden. On Thursdays and Fridays, there is also the option to visit the Archive. We recommend you allocate 1-2hrs to go around the site.
On Thursdays during school summer holidays from 11am–4pm, as part of general admission we offer a free arts and craft activity linked to the site and collections. Experiment with painting with natural paints and create your own Red House minibeast.
On Wednesday mornings we offer pre-booked guided tours; to find out dates and book, visit Red House Guided Tours.
We also offer options for group bookings which are available Monday to Sunday and can include coffee, cake and light lunches or a talk or special tour of the garden. To find out more, visit Group Bookings.
On certain dates The Red House will be offering Behind the Scenes tours throughout the day, which are included as part of your general admission ticket, and are booked on arrival. To find out more, visit Behind the Scenes at The Red House.
