Bach B Minor Mass
Join the University of Essex Choir in the Concert Hall as they perform Bach's B Minor Mass, conducted by the masterful Ben Vonberg-Clark.
Established for over 40 years, the University of Essex choir has earned an enviable reputation for the quality of its performances of the great choral works as well as lesser known pieces. In this concert, they sing Bach's B Minor Mass, a piece completed in 1749, the year before Bach's death. As usual for it's time, the composition is formatted as Neapolitan mass, consisting of a succession of choral movements with a broad orchestral accompaniment, as well as sections in which a more limited group of instrumentalists accompanies vocal soloists.
