The Coronation of Poppea
Monteverdi’s darkly entertaining depiction of violence and intrigue at the court of the Emperor Nero was one of the first operatic masterpieces.
With music and characterisation which still feel strikingly modern, Robin Norton-Hale directs this new production, with James Ham as conductor and arranger and a new English translation of the libretto from poet and classicist Helen Eastman.
Performed in English with English surtitles.
