Sona Jobarteh
An electrifying performance by international trailblazer Sona Jobarteh, the first female professional West African kora player.
Sona Jobarteh and her band will be performing her eagerly awaited second album, Badinyaa Kumoo (Words of Unity), which she describes as “a contribution to the tradition and the line that I’m a part of”. She uses the music on this album to communicate the messages that she holds most dear, referring to the mother figure and the close bond between siblings, used in this case to describe the wider unity of humanity.
