Singers from far and wide are invited to come and join living legend of the choral world, John Rutter, as he brings his hugely popular Singing Day to Snape Maltings Concert Hall.

Enjoyed around the world, John Rutter’s Singing Days bring together hundreds of singers for a unique combination of choral workshopping, community-building and anecdotes from his half-century of music-making worldwide.

Led by John together with soprano Melanie Marshall and pianist Gavin Roberts, in this immersive day singers will explore some of Rutter’s best-loved world-famous music including ‘Feel the Spirit’, alongside some of his favourite choral music from across the centuries.

About Melanie
Melanie Marshall has enjoyed a very successful and varied career both singing and acting on many a stage, both here and abroad. “Feel the Spirit” is a piece for mezzo soprano and chorus that was written especially for her by Dr John Rutter and Melanie has performed it many times, notably at Carnegie Hall and other wonderful venues. Melanie’s theatre career includes Jane Eyre (National Theatre and Bristol Old Vic), Fela ! (National Theatre and USA), Only Fools and Horses the Musical (the longest running show in the history of The Haymarket Theatre in London’s West End), and Porgy and Bess, to name a few.

About Gavin
Gavin Roberts enjoys a varied career as a piano accompanist. He has partnered singers in recital at Wigmore Hall, the Barbican Hall and the Royal Festival Hall, and is Artistic Director of the recital series Song in the City. He has appeared at The Cheltenham Festival, Dartington International Festival, The Ludlow Weekend of English Song, The Ryedale Festival and The Oxford Lieder Festival. He works regularly with soprano Lucy Hall, with whom he was the winner of the Oxford Lieder Young Artist Platform, and actor Rosamund Shelley, with whom he performs her one-woman shows Novello & Son and War Songs.
