Music for clarinet, violin and piano, from an off-kilter Viennese Waltz by Britten to Bartok's wild gypsy dances.

Mark Simpson, Elena Urioste and Tom Poster play a fascinating programme of works for varying combinations of clarinet, violin and piano. The miniatures of Britten's 1935 set of piano pieces feel as if each is in a new style, while Bartók's work written three years later for the "King of Swing", Benny Goodman, Joseph Szigeti and himself ranges from wild, detuned gypsy-influenced dances to eerie, atmospheric night music. Mark Simpson's piece also points towards the night, and charming pieces by Britten's teacher Frank Bridge and Edward Grieg complete the programme.
