Richard Pye
Themes of collective responsibility and community will be explored by Richard Pye in his Snape Residency, as part of his research project 'Bystander'. This performance will incorporate movement and sound to explore themes of support, alliance and agency.
Richard Pye choreographer/movement facilitator
Alistair Wroe producer/cellist
Douglas Dare voice/composer
'Bystander' has been born out of both a personal and collective experience of rising hate crimes motivated by sexual orientation and gender identity, and aims to investigate support, existence, resistance and advocacy.
Movement artist Richard Pye, with Alistair Wroe and Douglas Dare, will create a visually and aurally compelling live performance while ensuring the artistic language reflects and represents diversity within the queer and trans community. The soundscape will be made up of pre-recorded interviews, speech, electronic and choral music.
Snape Residencies provide time and space for creators at all stages of their careers; a supportive environment to create, be curious, and try out new ideas. Open Sessions offer a unique chance to go behind the scenes and experience work-in-progress created during the Residency.
