Baritone Peter Brathwaite’s Rediscovering Black Portraiture project went viral during lockdown. In this Open Session we get a glimpse of how Peter (a former Britten Pears Young Artist) and pianist Allyson Devenish are spending a Britten Pears Arts Residency developing music to complement it.

Peter’s first book, Rediscovering Black Portraiture (Getty Publications), was published in spring 2023 and is available for sale here. This year there have been exhibitions with King’s College London/Wellcome Trust and Bristol Museum & Art Gallery.
