Quatuor Agate (previously The Salomé Quartet II*)

Enjoy a mid-day concert in the beautiful Orford Church with one of Europe's most exciting young string quartets.

The finale concert of our Friday Lunchtime Concert series features the exciting Paris based Quatuor Agate. Formed in 2016, the quartet studied at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin and went on to become prize-winners at the prestigious YCAT International Auditions in 2021.

Over the last year the Quatuor Agate has made their debut at Wigmore Hall and given recitals across Europe. Highlights this season include debut recitals at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Alte Oper Frankfurt and a tour across the UK.

Catch the string quartet performing Boccherini’s charm-filled quartet in G minor and the emotive brilliance of Schubert’s great String Quartet No.14 in D minor, ‘Death and the Maiden’.

*The Salomé Quartet are no longer able to perform in this concert due to illness, we are grateful to Quatuor Agate for stepping in.

Enjoy a warm respite from the winter winds and performances by brilliant young musicians from the UK and abroad. All ensembles in this year's series are Britten Pears Young Artists for 2022-23 and are on a Chamber Music Residency as part of the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme.
