Composer Sarah Angliss introduces the world premiere of Giant at the Aldeburgh Festival, in a live talk about this fascinating opera.

Sarah Angliss’ music explores the sounds of voices and ancient instruments, revealing and augmenting them with her distinctive electronic techniques. In 2021 she received the Visionary Award from the Ivors Academy for her body of work. She is the composer of Giant, which tells the story of surgeon John Hunter and his obsession with Charles Byrne – a man he would ultimately betray in one of the most disturbing acts in the era of the grave robbers.

Angliss stays true to her artistic concepts, to create unique compositions that connect to the listener with emotional depth and great beauty, never failing to leave a lasting impression.
