Theremin, waterphone, and voice combine in this exploration of how performers and audiences can be more deeply connected through frequency and vibration.

Hannah Catherine Jones writes: ‘On the residency I will balance my time between recording and producing versions of some of The Oweds – my ongoing body of work – made up of multi-layered, multichannel, audio and audiovisual compositions..

Ultimately, I imagine this record to be a synthesis – an anachronistic document of my vibrations; composed from combinations of capturing the frequency-energies of my multi-instrumental setup on site, and from sound fragments from my personal archives of my many live performances over the past 10+ years.

I will use the space and time to deeply contemplate and explore my instruments (especially the liminal qualities of theremin, waterphone and my voice) and how I combine them with ancient modalities. I will reflect on the juxtapositions of organic and synthesised timbres and further explore the role of ‘alternative’ tuning frequencies alongside the ‘healing’ solfeggio frequencies, and how these allow me to connect with my audiences on a cellular level.’
