In the finest Aldeburgh Festival tradition, this recital features six first performances of exciting new works by Young Artist composers, alongside music by their composition tutors Helen Grime, Colin Matthews, and Mark-Anthony Turnage.

This concert is a showcase performance for our group of talented emerging contemporary performers playing music borne out of a period of collaboration with the next generation of composers. We also include a tribute to a much-missed friend and composer Alexander Goehr, who died in August 2024.

Established in 1992 by Oliver Knussen and Colin Matthews, the Composition & Performance course has for decades been supporting the development of composers and performers specialising in contemporary music. The new pieces, originally workshopped during the September 2024 course, will now receive their first performances.
