A splendidly captured film of ENO’s acclaimed 2014 staging of Britten’s last opera, directed by Deborah Warner and conducted by Edward Gardner.

John Graham-Hall delivers a “remarkable and harrowingly believable" performance (The Guardian) in this wonderful production of Death in Venice. Longstanding Britten champion Edward Gardner, who appeared with the London Philharmonic Orchestra on the opening Saturday of this Festival, conducted the ENO chorus and orchestra. The perfect complement to this year’s Festival finale programme which includes the suite from Britten’s Death in Venice.

We are delighted to announce that John Graham-Hall, who played Gustav von Aschenbach in this production, will be in attendance, and the evening will begin with a short talk from him about the production and his long association with Britten and the Aldeburgh Festival.

An exquisitely achieved marriage of music, drama and design
