A walk taking in the beautiful natural environment and churches of Somerleyton estate, including lunch in its summer house.

The walk begins at St Edmund’s Church, Fritton, before circumnavigating the lake, passing through formal gardens and along the woodland track, before lunching at the summer house with grand views across the water, where the brave can choose to swim from the jetty.

On leaving Fritton Lake the walk heads towards the hall, the seat of our hosts Lord and Lady Somerleyton, visiting the estate’s other two churches, St Mary’s Ashby and St Mary’s Somerleyton. Walkers will pass through the estate’s pioneering 1000 acre rewilding project whose designated aim is to gradually restore a fragment of the famous Suffolk Sandlings.
