Join Oliver Soden and Dr Lucy Walker for a conversation about the brilliant South African composer Priaulx Rainier. Rainier spent most of her working life in Europe, and her musical language reveals influences from both Western and African traditions.

She was admired by some of the greatest musicians of the 20th century, many of whom commissioned works from her; she wrote two concertos for violinist Yehudi Menuhin, and vocal works for Peter Pears.

Oliver Soden is the biographer of Michael Tippett, and has written widely on other 20th-century cultural figures, including Rainier.
