Composer Judith Weir CBE has had an extraordinarily varied and fascinating career, and is the current Master of the Queen’s Music. We are thrilled that she will be taking part in this Discovery Session for a conversation about her life and works.
Best known for her operas including A Night at the Chinese Opera (1987) and The Vanishing Bridegroom (1990), Weir has also written orchestral and chamber music. She has drawn on medieval history and her Scottish heritage. Her music has been compared to that of both Benjamin Britten and Leoš Janácek, and she is considered to be one of Britain's foremost composers.
Dr Lucy Walker will introduce the session, and then will be joined by the composer herself.
