Composition, Alternative Performance and Performance Art (CAPPA) is a Britten Pears Young Artist Programme course which considers what it means to make new music through the dual lenses of historical performance art and adventurous new-music practice. Participants with diverse approaches are invited to bring together music composition, improvisation, interpretation, multimedia art, installation and performance art.
This one-day series of events is assembled by course leaders Larry Goves and Angharad Davies with the ensemble The House of Bedlam and CAPPA members. There will be new work prepared on the course, where individual contributions and collaboratively made work are situated alongside essential historical and contemporary experimental repertoire. These will be unpredictable performances united by a joy in experimentation.
