Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and American music at the meeting point of classical and jazz performed by star soloists Alison Balsom, Nicholas Daniel and Tom Poster, with Britten Sinfonia.

The outstanding Britten Sinfonia is joined by three brilliant musicians – trumpet player Alison Balsom, oboist Nicholas Daniel and pianist Tom Poster – to perform new arrangements of hugely popular concertos of Rodrigo and Gershwin. They also play pieces from their newly-released album, which showcases American composers of the first half of the 20th century who were incorporating jazz influences into their music.

Alison Balsom's new album Quiet City explores American music of the 20th century, composed in the era of the explosion of jazz. The sound of the solo trumpet in classical and jazz music at this time was contrasting in style, and yet often evocative, plaintive and haunting, and so iconic to the aural landscape of America.
