The BBC Concert Orchestra presents Elgar’s timeless Enigma Variations, with the profoundly beautiful and universally recognised Nimrod at its heart.

Alongside this is Berners’ masterpiece A Wedding Bouquet, narrated by Zeb Soanes, with its catchy tango and waltz melodies. This is followed by the world premiere of the orchestral version of Dickinson’s delightful Unicorns Suite.

The mission of the BBC Concert Orchestra is to bring inspiring musical experiences to everyone, everywhere, with the ensemble’s versatility as the key.

This concert is dedicated to the memory of Professor Peter Dickinson – composer, writer, pianist, and dear friend of Britten Pears Arts

With thanks to The Berners Trust for their support.

The Trust was founded in 1988 following the death of Robert Heber Percy, who was Lord Berners’ heir. It has many achievements to its credit. All Berners’ music has been recorded, several works twice; his autobiographies and novels have all been kept in print; and the Trust supported the British premiere of his only opera, Le Carrosse du Saint Sacrement, by Dorset Opera in 2010. The Trust makes grants to performers and organisations wanting to perform Berners’ music. The Secretary is Gregory Rose gr@gregoryrose.org
