Watch the Aldeburgh Young Musicians perform a programme of music inspired by the teachings and guidance of Max Baillie.
Sought-after violinist and violist Max Baillie will lead a five-day project in Chamber Music, where Aldeburgh Young Musicians (AYMs) will learn and expand on skills where improvisation and composition meet. Working in ensembles, participants will be guided by a small team of tutors, all dynamic professional musicians with creative performing careers. AYMs will take material from a diverse range of sources, from Bach to Stravinsky and John Cage, and use them as starting points to create their own pieces.
With a focus on form, live arranging skill, and creative improvisation, the project will work towards this open session where the audience can expect a varied programme of exciting new chamber music.
AYM is a Centre for Advanced Training, based at Snape Maltings Concert Hall, and is part of the national network. Through intensive residential courses, professional advice, mentoring and performance opportunities, AYM nurtures the creative, innovative, and distinctive musicians of tomorrow.
