An epic evening with one of the world’s great orchestra-conductor partnerships.

The London Symphony Orchestra and conductor Sir Simon Rattle return to Snape Maltings for an evening of epic music and endeavour. Bruckner adored the ground-breaking sound-world of Wagner’s operas based on Norse mythology and distilled it, adding plenty of his own inspiration, into his extraordinary late symphonies. Sibelius was also inspired by ancient stories. His Oceanides vividly conveys the sea nymphs of Greek mythology, while his later piece Tapiola, based on Finland’s national epic poem, the Kalevala, brilliantly evokes a timeless northern world.
