Britten Pears Young Artist 2022-23
Is this course for me?
This course is designed to help early-career, pre-established chamber ensembles who need dedicated time to work together and rejuvenate, with the guidance and support of a wealth of prominent chamber musicians. We would expect ensembles on this course to have been working together for over two years.
Who will work with me?
This course will be led by some of the world’s most experienced chamber musicians, Isabel Charisius, James Baillieu, and the Heath Quartet, alongside Elena Urioste and Melissa White who bring elements of their Intermission programme.
What can I expect on this course?
A collection of five chamber ensembles will be in residence together for the 12-day course, each with dedicated space to workshop, rehearse and build on their foundations. Throughout the course, tutors will be available for coachings and mentorship. A key focus is being healthy musicians both within and beyond the ensemble, with opportunities for yoga that enhances practice, and lessons to set up habits for the future. The course will include masterclasses and two lunchtime concerts at the Jubilee Hall in Aldeburgh.
You will need to be at Snape Maltings for the full duration of the course 24 March – 4 April 2025. As with all BPYAP courses, there is no fee to attend, we will cover travel costs, accommodation and most meals. Additionally, we have a small budget to provide financial support, including for those who need support with removing barriers to access or childcare costs.
Who can apply?
For this course we accept applications from chamber ensembles comprising of either strings or strings and piano, with minimum 3 and maximum 5 musicians. This course is for existing ensembles that have been formed for at least two years with substantive performance experience.
We are accepting applications internationally, you do not have to be a resident of the UK or EU in order to apply for this course.
