January – March 2024

“It is the most wonderful and inspiring place. It makes you feel closer to nature and at the same time immersed in this wonderful musical world.”
Britten Pears Young Artist (Ensemble) 2021-22

Watch the Adelphi Quartet on a Chamber Music Residency, 2022.

Is this course for me?

This series offers emerging ensembles the opportunity to undertake intensive study, rehearsal and reflection. This is for ensembles who have been performing together for a few years and would really benefit from the time away to rehearse together.

Who will work with me?

As part of this residency you will be able to choose a mentor to work with you and provide some coaching for two days. We will always do our best to make sure you are able to work with a mentor or coach that you choose.

What can I expect on this course?

Each residency lasts a fortnight and includes two lunchtime concerts at the Jubilee Hall in Aldeburgh. This opportunity is all about flexibility for the ensemble. Chamber groups are able to plan their own schedule and take the time to listen and work on what is important to them. You will have exclusive use of one of our world class studios or rehearsal rooms for the full period.

As with all BPYAP courses, there is no fee to attend, we will cover travel costs, accommodation and most meals. Additionally, we have a small budget to provide financial support, including for those who need support with removing barriers to access or childcare costs.

Britten Pears Arts has a strategic interest in developing concerts for young audiences from 0-18, families, and those who don’t currently find chamber performances accessible. If you’d be interested in exploring this as part of your Residency, please indicate this in your application.

Who can apply?

Applications will be open chamber ensembles of between three and six members of any instrumentation and with any areas of repertoire focus. This course is for existing ensembles that have been formed for at least 2 years with substantive performance experience. We are accepting applications internationally, you do not have to be a resident of the UK or EU in order to apply for this course.
